Drug use among college students is growing at a rate we didn't expect

Drug addiction is very harmful to the physical and mental health of people, which leads to social instability. Drugs can be divided into two main types; one is hard drugs, and the other is soft drugs. As Gateway Rehab Centers explains, “Hard drugs are those substances that are more potent and toxic both physically and mentally, such as Heroin, and Cocaine. Soft drugs such as Alcohol, Nicotine, and Marijuana are thought to be less harmful than hard drugs. They can cause serious health problems such as liver disease, impaired brain function and many types of cancer”. People who take hard drugs tend to have metabolic disorders, hallucinations, and skinny bones.

Nowadays, we can often see news reports of drug addicts doing all kinds of crazy things, such as driving at high speed, being chased by police, running naked downtown, etc. Soft drugs do not cause as much damage to the organs as hard drugs, and they act directly on the central nerves of the brain, so they are prone to hallucinations, delusions, etc. Among those who use soft drugs, when they are not using drugs, they do not show any changes in their physical appearance, and you would not even think that they are a drug addict. Even when the drug addiction comes, they will not show the same pain and suffering as when the heroin addiction comes, but will just appear grumpy and easily angry, and onlookers will think they are depressed and irritable.
